Over 50 New Features for 2013!

Band-in-a-Box 2013 for Windows has over 50 new features and enhancements, including new Add-ons, 101 more RealTracks and 50 great new MIDI SuperTracks! You get RealTracks Sets 170-187 with 101 RealTracks like Classic Jazz Piano, Cuban Guajira & Guaracha, Celtic, and many more, plus 50 more great MIDI SuperTracks including Piano (Classic, Traditional Jazz, Modern Jazz, Celtic, New Age), Strings (Pop, Jazz), and more. There’s a new MIDI DXi synth (SampleTank) and High Quality (“Hi-Q”) MIDI Sounds that make the MIDI tracks (regular and MIDI SuperTracks) sound much better. New Artist Performances for the Melody track showcase the RealTracks demos as they play along to an artist performing the melody. These are great for listening or learning from the pros. Notation and tablature are available for the Artist Performance Tracks. New “Print to PDF” feature. SoundCloud.com and DropBox are now intergrated. These are only a few of the many new features of Band in a Box 2013 for Windows.

Recent enhancements for both platforms include adding your own loops or 3rd party loops to any Band-in-a-Box track. The “BB Remote” app for iPhone, iPad, Android was recently updated with new features (new release pending approval in the Apple store). There’s a Simpler RealTracks setting that makes the RealTracks play a less busy or embellished arrangement. You can add MIDITracks individually now, simply select your favorite MIDITrack from any style to any track of your current song. EZ selection of “DrumGrooves” has been added, which are different grooves within drum styles. RealTracks are enhanced so you can now have RealTracks styles changes within a song, generate Soloist Medleys – solos that play RealTracks instruments during the solos, and more. There’s a Scales Wizard for practicing, which generates scales for any chord progression. New StylePicker Filters show you only the styles that match your search criteria. A “plug-in” mode allows you to drag-and-drop tracks between Band-in-a-Box and your favorite sequencer (RealBand, Sonar, Reaper, ProTools, FL-Studio, Nuendo and more). RealTracks now support Shots, Holds, and Pushes. Individual MIDI or Real Tracks can be frozen so the arrangements can be saved and fixed and will replay quickly without need for regeneration. Soloist RealTracks are now saved with the song. There’s up to 999 levels of Undo. You can dial in Reverb and control the Bass/Treble for individual Real tracks... and much more!

Automatic Music Accompaniment

Band-in-a-Box is intelligent music accompaniment software. The award-winning Band-in-a-Box is so easy to use! Just type in the chords for any song using standard chord symbols (i.e. - C, Fm7, C13b9), choose the style you would like played by the band, and Band-in-a-Box does the rest!

Amazing Vocal Harmonies!

You can apply a harmony to the audio part - allowing you to automatically create up to 4 part vocal harmonies from your singing. And don’t worry if your singing is not in perfect tune, Band-in-a-Box can now "fix" vocals to the correct pitch - automatically! Simply record your vocal part, choose a harmony, and Band-in-a-Box will generate the vocal harmony part for you! Band-in-a-Box generates the harmonies using the world-leading TC-Helicon Vocal Technologies engine. Once you have recorded a vocal part into Band-in-a-Box, you can use this feature in many ways, including:

1. Record yourself singing into a Band-in-a-Box file. Create a vocal harmony for part or all of the song by selecting a Band-in-a-Box harmony and choosing the Generate Audio Harmony option. You can now hear yourself singing in perfect harmony!
2. Did you hit a few "out-of-tune" notes when you recorded your singing to Band-in-a-Box? Fixing your "out-of-tune" singing is easy, by instructing the program to correct the pitches to the Melody track

Repeats, First & Second endings, DS/DC al Coda

You can now add these repeats and endings so that the Lead Sheet window will display and printout using 1st/2nd endings. there’s a NEW Wizard that will intelligently add 1st/2nd endings automatically for you. Now you can view and convert your current song collection to include 1st/2nd endings in lead sheet format! To view a lead sheet in 1st/2nd endings format, simply select the “FakeSheet” checkbox on the Lead Sheet window, and Band-in-a-Box will display the Fake Sheet using 1st and 2nd endings. You can add your own repeats and endings by right-mouse-clicking the Repeats-Endings option.

Copy Dialog has Additional Functions

Copy, Repeat X times, with Transpose – The Edit-Copy dialog now has additional fields, allowing you to define the number of times to repeat each copy and define the number of semitones you transpose. For example, you could have a 16 bar section, copy it 3 times with a semitone transpose each time. Or, take a single 4 bar phrase, and copy it 11 times, transposing up a 4th each time, generating the same 4 bar phrase in all 12 keys!

Copy Dialog has additional functions - In addition to the above, the Edit-Copy dialog has “insert bars at destination option” which allows a copy to also insert bars at the destination point. This is handy to create a repeat, for example, by copying 8 bars and then inserting the 8 bars at the destination copy point. Additional enhancements to the Edit-Copy dialog include:

• copy 1st chorus to whole song
• copy to specific chorus
• include part-markers/bar settings
• show less/show more

Hybrid Styles

“Hybrid Styles” allow you to play and create a style that has instruments from up to five different styles! You can, for example, play a song with a Reggae bass, Rock drums, Salsa piano, or any combination of up to five styles that you want. Create a name for your “Hybrid Style” and you can save it with the song so that it will play that way in the future.

VST Plug-ins

VST synth support for each track, so you can have multiple synths playing on your songs. You can also use VST audio plug-ins (reverb, delay etc.) on each track. Windows and Mac users can customize over 150 of the guitar-based RealTracks with the new Guitar Amp Simulator (AmpliTube CS). Features “Direct Input” (clean signal) Guitar RealTracks for these, so all of the added effects come from the Guitar Amp Simulator.

DirectX Instrument Synthesizer Support (Windows)

Software synthesizers allow Band-in-a-Box to play high quality sounds directly through your computer sound card, without requiring any external MIDI hardware. Most new software synthesizers are released as “DXi plug-ins,” so they will work in a standard way with many programs. Connecting Band-in-a-Box to the software synth as a plug-in provides several advantages over the previous method of connecting as a MIDI driver. The plug-in allows Band-in-a-Box to merge/synch in any existing audio file (vocals etc.) with the synth output. You can also directly render your performance to a .WAV file using the DXi plug-in. Sampler-based synths allow you to assemble a huge, customized library of instrument samples to use with Band-in-a-Box. Examples of popular DXi synths include the RolandED HyperCanvas, LiveSynth, or VSampler.
